March - A Month for a King

Well, here we are: Leap Day, and the last day of February.

Spring is just around the corner, and what better way to bring in the month of March than checking out a KING "BOWL" REEVES performance? That's right - the legendary Composer and Vibist will be on hand at the Cincinnati Arts Museum - Fath Auditorium, performing for a Hurricane Katrina Benefit. This is to benefit the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity, and recognize the efforts of those who contribute to the relief for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

Believe me when I say, you DON'T want to miss this event! For years, King Reeves has played a major role in leading the charge with Cincinnati Jazz. Tell all your friends the place to be on THIS Sunday evening (March 2nd) is the Fath Auditorium at the Cincinnati Arts Museum. The show starts at 6:00, and the $10.00 cover is going to a wonderful cause for those (after over 2 years) who are still in need of help. Great music, by a great musician, for a great cause - no better way to spend a Sunday evening!

A 45-Minute Drive North

Who's gonna be in Dayton this Friday? A very good friend of mine, Jazz Vibraphonist Liz Wu, will be with Jazz Voice, Percussion & Guitarist Brian Deyo at Cafe Boulevard in the Oregon District. The show is this Friday (Feb. 15th) from 8:00 to midnight, and there is no cover charge. For directions to the boulevard, visit www.cafeboulevard.com . Who says Valentine's Day can't be extended one more day? Bring your sweetheart to Cafe Boulevard for a romantic dinner and live jazz with Liz Wu and Brian Deyo. It's certainly worth the short drive up north!

Jazz Meetup!

Hey everyone!

A new online Jazz Meetup Group has recently launched for all who love jazz in Cincinnati. This group allows members to exchange messages, share photos, conduct polls, and a lot more! To me, the most distinct feature is the ability to add a "Meetup" - a social event (such as a jazz show) to share with fellow members inviting them to attend. And members can indicate whether or not they can attend and if so, how many guests they are bringing.

This is a FANTASTIC way to bring Cincinnati Jazz Enthusiasts together to share information on events, so no one misses out on catching a show! Click here to visit the Jazz Meetup Group, then click the "Sign Up" button - its totally free. The Jazz Meetup Group, along with The Jazz Half, will keep you in touch with all that's Jazz in Cincinnati. So join the group, and mention that you heard of it from The Jazz Half!! Cheers!

February is finally here!

Welcome to February,

I don't know about you, but for me, January just seem to DRAG on and on. I'm so glad February is here - Its a short month, and we're that much closer to Spring. February also brings us to a new Jazz Half Event Calendar; already jam-packed with events - including the Jazz Half Event of the Month. Visit www.thejazzhalf.com for details on the Event of the Month. I celebrated the start of February by dropping into The Blue Wisp last night to see Tenor Saxophonist Brent Gallaher and his quartet. A sizzling performance as always, with a very good-sized audience.

Well, time to crash - I'm exhausted. Need a good night's sleep to start the week off right. Pleasant Dreams!

p.s. Don't forget to click the WCJS button from The Jazz Half site for the live radio broadcast schedule!
