Dan Karlsberg's latest mission touches down to earth
When hearing the music of keyboardist Dan Karlsberg, there’s no mistaking the innovative style of his compositions. As his creations tell a story and transition from mind to paper, then to the instruments, his signature is consistent, and remains in tact, delivering the music with the intended style and message in which it was written.
This month, Dan Karlsberg releases his second project as a bandleader, Mission to Mars & Other Short Stories. This is the follow-up to his 2007 project, The Adventures of the Dan Karlsberg Group. Mission to Mars delivers flavors of straight-ahead jazz, blended with a little funk in a way that only Dan can bring it. The Dan Karlsberg Group features Dan on Keys, Steve Whipple on Bass, Sandy Suskind on Flute/Alto, Marc Fields on Trombone, Garin Webb on Soprano/Tenor Sax, Oz Landesberg on Tenor, and Anthony “T” Lee on Drums.
Last Saturday (July 24th), Dan and his Group held a CD release party of cosmic proportions at The Blue Wisp. Mission to Mars is now available on CDBaby, iTunes, and Amazon.
